My favorite movie ever! In a postapocalyptic future, most of human civilization has been destroyed by angry forest spirits. The forest now controls the water sources, and uses them to bargain with humankind. Some seek to live in peace with the forest, while others seek to destroy it. Those the forest approves of are allowed to wield its power at great danger to themselves. One day, a girl from the time when men ruled is awoken from her slumber, plunging the world into chaos. She holds the key to their fate. This story, entwined with magical elements, is largely a romance story. The character art is relatively simple in contrast with incredibly detailed backgrounds, which have left me with a lasting impression of awe. The dialogue is fast, and the soundtrack is amazing. The ending song, Ai No Melody, has been one of my favorites since the first time I watched this!
