I just finished re-reading this book and i remembered why i love Lemony Snicket's work. In this vile novel, the Baudelaire's continue their search for their friends, the Quagmire triplets. In the previous book, The Ersatz Elevator, Violet Klaus and Sunny here about a town called V.F.D. Remembering that V.F.D. was a clue that Duncan Quagmire had given the Baudelaires, they head to that town for more clues-and guardianship. This whole town of V.F.D. becomes the orphans guardians and boss the children around giving them all sorts of chores to fill up their time with. Along with these chores, the awful Council of Elders, a horrid list of dramatic rules to follow, and living with a town full of crows, the children begin receiving notes from Isadora Quagmire about where they are hidden. Then, of course, Count Olaf enters the story creating even more of a mess for the children. . .if you are to read this story, read it with caution. . .Over 6 years agodemosthenesliked a comment in Something in Between.
Something in Between- This is the greatest book of all time. This book is about a teen named Jessica de los Santos, who is from the Philippines. She is doing her cheer leading in school, when a letter from the president comes, explaining how she is a national scholar and has a free ride for 4 years in any college that she gets into. This is when her dream comes true. All she has to do is get paperwork from her parents saying that they are american citizens and she's off to fulfill her dreams. As she explains to her parents what the deal is, she is struck with news that they are illegal aliens. What will Jessica do now? You must read the book to find out! Please read this book and I assure you, that you will be hooked to the book, but will be sad when it ends, but that's what books do, end. So stop looking for books to read and read Something in Between!!!!Over 6 years agodemosthenesis now following forenna.

It is the thrilling and page-turning conclusion to the Land of Stories, and what Alex and Conner have been dreading is finally happening: worlds have collided. All the characters from the Land of Stories, good and bad, have escaped to New York City! The Literary Army is creating vicious plans to take over the world, and Alex and Conner and the other Land of Stories characters must defeat them. But Alex is cursed and under the control of a core leader of the Literary Army, and is being forced to use her magic for evil purposes. Without Alex helping him, Conner must lead an army, keep his family and friends safe, and try to save the city he loves. This concluding story was everything I could've wanted it to be. It is the perfect ending to the beloved Land of Stories. I could not put this book down, and it was as good as the rest of the series. I recommend this book to boys and girls ages 10+.Over 6 years agohummingbird1 has read this book.
