The book Super Gifted has different people’s perspectives of the story. Three most important characters are Noah, Meghan and Donovan. Donovan saves Meghan’s house by putting a truck in neutral mode. But, he doesn’t want anyone to know it was him. However, the story gets out that Meghan’s house was saved, but no one knows that Donovan saved it. Noah tells everyone that he saved the house (because he thought that he was helping Donovan). Noah gets a whole fan club, a sandwich named after him and everyone calls him Superkid! Meghan gets suspicious and finds out in the end that Donovan was the one who saved her house. My favorite part is when Donovan reveals that he was the Superkid because Noah said he lied (about being Superkid) to protect Donovan. My favorite character is Meghan Mercury. She is the head cheerleader for the school’s lacrosse team, the Hornets. Even though she can be a little mean, she gave Donovan a hug for saving her house. To find that out, she went to his older sister’s house. I think she got a little jealous because she used to be as popular as the fake superkid. I recommend this book to anyone who likes robotics and cheerleading.

Rump is a 12 boy who has half a name. His mother said that his name was Rump…. , but she died before she could say the rest. Having a half name is a problem. Especially if you live in a place where your name is your destiny. Since he has half a name, he’s half his size. One day, he learns that he can spin straw into gold. Rump and his grandma are very poor. With his grandma sick, he has to do almost everything around the house. He spins tons of straw into gold to buy more food from the miller. The miller gives the gold to the tax person. Later, the king decides to visit their town to ask who gave the thread of gold as a tax. The miller tells him that his daughter, Opal, can spin straw into gold. She is taken to the castle to spin more gold for the king. However, Rump continues to spin straw into gold, but he doesn’t know that he is cursed because of the magic. To get break it, he asked his best friend’s(Red) granny. She told him to find a stiltskin. He travels to the castle to help Opal spin straw into gold. Each time, he gets a gift in return. For the first time, he received Opal’s pure gold necklace from her father, for the second time, he received her ring with an opal, and for the last time, he received her first newborn child. He leaves to find the stiltskin. He meets his aunts for the first time. They tell him part of his name, Rumpel. Rumpel tries to find the stiltskin until he finds out that he himself is the stiltskin. he pieces together his name, Rumpelstiltskin. He receives the newborn, even though he didn’t want it. He told her if she could guess his name in three days, he would give Opal her baby. On the third day she got it right and everyone got what they wanted. My favorite part is when he met his aunts. My favorite character is Rump. He wanted to find his name. so he did. He wanted to save Opal. So he did. Rump is my favorite character because he wants to help friends. I recommend this book to anyone who’s ambitious.

The main characters name is Mibs. She has a special family. When anyone in the family turn 13, they get a secret power. Her brother, Fish has the power to start hurricanes, her grandma can catch soundwaves and Mibs other brother, Rocket can keep the electricity flowing even during a blackout. On her 13th birthday, Mibs decides to find a way to get to Salina, Kanas because she needs to get to her dad(who suffered a car crash). She believes that her savvy is that she can wake things up. She sneaks onto a bus with Fish, Samson(her little brother), Bobbi and Will Junior(Mrs. Rosemary’s son and daughter). Later, a ALERT! MISSING! ALERT came up on the news. They meet the driver, Lester Swan. He has two tattoos. One that says Rhonda and another one that says Carlene. Right then, Mibs learned that she can read minds, only if the person has ink on them. Mibs could read Carlene and Rhonda fighting in her head. Little did Mibs know that it would take 1 day to get to Salina. Lester picks up a woman named Lill. She works in a diner with a very mean and rude manager. She loses her job and the manager gives her all the money from the cash register. The whole group finds a motel to sleep at. After that, Lester goes to give something to Carlene. Fish took Samson to the bathroom and returns. Carlene realized that Bobbi, Mibs, Samson, Fish and Will junior are the ALERT! MISSING! ALERT kids from the news. She starts to call the police while Samson hides. Everyone forgot about Samson and told Lester to hit the rode… until they realize Samson is back at Carlene’s house. They drive back and start looking for Samson. When they couldn’t find him, they asked Carlene. she told them that he was in the wall storage. The police came and told Mibs that she could go to Salina. In the end, everyone was happy. My favorite part is when Mib’s dad recovered from the accident. My favorite character is Mibs. Her Savvy is so cool. She can read minds!!!!! But, I also feel bad about her because of her dad. She had all these people bully her because of her name. I recommend this book to anyone who doesn’t give up.

You go first is about a girl named Charlotte and a boy named Ben. Each chapter switches from Charlotte’s life and Ben’s life. Both have issues about their family. Ben’s parents are getting divorced and Charlotte’s dad had a heart attack while he was driving. Ben and Charlotte play scrabble together and talk to each other on it. In the end, they are both happy because Ben found out that he can visit both his parents and Charlotte’s Dad recovered. My favorite part is when Ben runs for treasurer. My favorite character is Ben. He reminds me of when I was running for student government. I ended up being president for 2 years. He made a speech in front of the whole school and was very brave. But, the sad part is that he only got to say a few words. That’s because some of his enemies set off firecrackers. The school postponed the speeches. So we don’t know if Ben won the election or not. I recommend this book to whoever loves Scrabble or I recommend this book to anyone who is running for anything!!

The Wishing Tree is a red oak (named Red) where people write down a wish and tie it to Red. Red sees tons of things throughout his two hundred and sixteen rings (years) of life. A girl named Samar lives in the house in front of Red. Every night, she gets out of bed to lean on Red. All the animals that live in Red love her, including Red’s friend crow, Bongo. One day, she comes outside with a wish on a piece of fabric. While she ties it on to Red, she says “I wish I had a friend.” Samar’s neighbor is a student at her school named Stephen. In the beginning, they dislike each other. But, when Red tries to grant Samar’s wish, they become friends. One night, Red put plan #3 into action. He instructed Bongo to untie Samar’s wish and leave it on Stephen’s windowsill. Once he looks outside, he sees the wish, opens the window and reads it. He walked to the wishing tree and started a conversation. However, during the conversation, Red tells them a story, even though he broke the #1 rule, the no talking to people rule. Red is planted on a lawn. The owner of that lawn doesn’t like it there. So she tries to cut it down. But in the end, the animals saved Red from being cut down and that convinced the owner to keep Red alive. My favorite part is when the animals saved Red by perching on the branches to save Red. She didn’t want to hurt the animals, so she decided not to cut Red down. My favorite character is Red. He is a good friend of Samar’s and is so nice to her that he breaks the rules for her to have a friend. Even though he is sad, he overcomes many obstacles (such as someone carving the word “leave “ into his trunk) but in the end, everyone is happy. I recommend this book to people who love nature.

cgwong908's book review was featured in The School for Good and Evil.
The School for Good and Evil is a romantic book with tons of drama. In the beginning two great friends named Agatha and Sophie were kidnapped by the “school master” from their hometown Gavaldon. They were separated to go to school. However Sophie( the prettier one of the pair) had to attend the School for Evil and Agatha (the more peculiar of the pair) had to attend the School for Good. Both Agatha and Sophie fail to alert the staff that they are in the wrong schools. Once they get used to it, Sophie falls in love with Agatha’s classmate, Tedros( the student who every boy wants to be and all the girls want to be his wife), King Arthur’s son. She feels the need for him to take her to the Ever’s Snow Ball(that’s the ball for only students of the school for good). Agatha and Sophie travels to the “school master’s” tower. Inside they see a magical pen called the Storian start writing a story about the pair. The school master’s approaches them and gives them a riddle. If they solve the riddle, they would be free. Since their wish was to be free, they tried to solve the riddle. Agatha’s part was simple. But, Sophie had to kiss her true love, which to her was Tedros. Tedros falls in love Sophie and plans to kiss her. But once he sees that she has grown pure evil he turns away from Sophie, falls in love with Agatha and starts a raging battle between the Evers and the Nevers( the students of the school for evil). But in the end they live in their Happily Ever After. My favorite part is when Tedros and Sophie secretly met in the blue forest when they fell in love. Tedros was going to kiss her but instead Sophie says no because all she wanted was a prince. My favorite character is Agatha. Even though she is strange and ugly, she was so kind and beautiful inside her heart, she outshined Sophie and Tedros fell in love with Agatha. She always stays a good hearted friend to Sophie even though she was acting jealous and mean to her. I recommend this book to girls who are imaginative and who have a great friend. Say thank you to your best friend.
