This book was one of those books that had heart wrenching moments that seemed so real. Reading this book caused me to feel many emotions that felt quite raw and that were quite true and I just simply felt like I could relate. The author wrote the book in such a way that made it feel like it was me who was the one who was getting her heart torn to pieces at the most saddest moments the main female character was living through. I highly recommend this book . And I really loved how the fandom element was incorporated into the story, it gave the original story a spark that ignited into this beautiful retelling of this colorful and star filled story of Geekerella.Almost 5 years agohollowitz added a book review.

How would you feel if your life was turned around in a matter of seconds? When Raina slips and falls on the sidewalk, her teeth are damaged badly. To her horror, with this injury she needs to get BRACES. It's her worst fear! Join Raina on her real-life journey through braces, middle school, trouble with friends, and growing up. This book is actually based on the author Raina Telegemeier's experiences growing up, which I find SO cool! It's extremely relatable in that way, which makes it an even cooler book to read. I also love the way the book is set up-- it's a fun to read graphic novel! I've always highly recommended this book to my friends, and I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves humor and true stories. Amazing read, I give this 5/5 stars!About 5 years agocallie_b added a book review.
I think EVERYONE should read this book! Wonder by R. J. Palacio is a magnificent and moving book about overcoming our differences and accepting and loving people for who they are. Even though Auggie's face looks different than the other kids around him, he's just as eager to learn and grow. Other kids, however, have a hard time realizing that Auggie is just like they are. Auggie goes through bullying, betrayal from supposed friends, and a lot of staring. But he works through it with grace just like the wonder he is. I laughed, I cried, and I marvelled at the amazingness of this book. It was moving and teaches us to be compassionate and kind to anyone who comes our way. I absolutely and completely loved this book, and recommend it for anyone and everyone! I give it 5/5 stars!About 5 years ago
