Sweet Home Alaska was an intriguing story of a young girl named Terpsichore, who's family became pioneers in Alaska around the time of the start of the Great Depression. Terpsichore had always been inspired by Laura Ingalls Wilder and dreamed of living just like her! The move to Alaska was a shock because the town was under construction, the family had to live in a tent and leave almost every bit of their civilized life behind. All the same, Terpsichore fell in love with the Alaska wilderness and even when her mother became so homesick she threatened to bring the whole family back to their first home in Wisconsin, the little girl fought for the place she had come to love! This is a great book full of adventure and HUGE pumpkins!!

The Spindlers by Lauren Oliver is a story about 12-year-old Liza and her journey when Patrick, her younger brother was taken by spiders when the children forgot to say the ward off charm before bed one night. Liza must venture down into their basement and into the walls to the land of the spindlers to get her brother back. This is a hilarious, well written, exciting story and I really enjoyed reading it!

In this rendition of the folktale, East of the Sun and West of the Moon, this book tells the story of Rose, a girl born as a Northern child in a family of Eastern homebodies. Rose's mother tries to hide that Rose was actually born as an adventurer, but when an enourmous white bear shows up at Rose's families' cottage, the secret begins to unravel. Rose ventures on a journey tot he land of the north with the white bear as her best companion. This is such an amazing book, barely words can describe it. I throughly LOVED reading it and I think all lovers of friendship, courage and adventure would love it as well!

When Kendra and her younger brother, Seth, are taken to their grandparents house, little do they know, but that they are stepping into the world of magic, curses, and evil. Their grandfather is the caretaker of Fablehaven, a magic-filled sanctuary, one of the few in the world. Ancient magical borders and rules keep all the mystical and possibly wicked creatures from escaping into the world. When Seth becomes to curious and unleashes the magical bonds that hold the trolls, creatures, fairies, imps, witches and saeturs, he and Kendra must find a way to save themselves, Fablehaven and possibly the world and face their fears to find courage. This book is completely amazing, intruiging and full of excitment and suspense. I really liked reading it :)

The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill is about a town that each year gives the youngest baby to the "witch" in the woods. They think that if they do not, the witch will curse them and send them into forever darkness and exile. This book is about the life of Luna, one of the children brought into the woods and her life with the Zan, the kind old woman known in the tale as the mean, old witch. This story tells of Luna's journey as a magical child and her adventures through the days as she finds the true meaning of being filled with moon magic. “Not all knowledge comes from the mind. Your body, your heart, your intuition. Sometimes memories even have minds of their own.” ― Kelly Barnhill, The Girl Who Drank the Moon
