This book is about an author who was walking to an appointment when 2 gentlemen got into his way. They asked him for the book he was working on. The author said they needed to be more specific. One of the men said that he is old and he doesn't hear right. The author got his walking stick and used it to hit him in the cheek. Right then one of the men shot the author and stole his book. The author got help though, but the thieves got away with it! Now they have to get the book back someway, but in the mean time it's going to be about Emily, a girl whose family is having an adventure of trying to live in every state of the U.S. They are moving to California. Emily once loved it, to experience new places. Then they were in traffic. When they finally arrived, they started claiming rooms of the new place they would live in. Later, they start talking about the author, who's name is Garrison Grisworld. When Emily heard that James met him, she was so surprised because she wanted to meet him real bad. Then James mentioned he didn't show up somewhere when he was suppose to. Then Emily got all worried, but then James told her that they just found out that he didn't disappear, he was in the hospital. Will Emily help Garrison Grisworld find the thieves that stole his book?

Where, oh where should I start with this one? Cinder… the book that tore me apart and thrilled me. Cinder by Marissa Meyer is about Cinder, a 33.65 % cyborg mechanic who lives with her step-mom and step-sisters. In this ‘dystopian-fantasy’, there are people called ‘Lunars’ that live on the moon. There is (of course) a charming Prince Kai that is heir to the throne and who (of course) likes Cinder. I liked this novel. And I love how Marissa Meyer based the entire the thing on the story of Cinderella but gave it a very interesting twist. I liked Cinder (the character). She was such a brave and well played character. Her curiosity is both interesting and lethal. And to have her as a cyborg made me love this book even more. The very fact that this novel takes place in a ‘plague-era’ made me read on. I find every book plague related very interesting. (EX- Cinder and the Mark of the Plague) The plot twist at the end wrapped everything nicely together, but I do have to say that I saw it coming. At the end, I really appreciate this novel. It was so interesting and fun. I am proud to say that I started my summer with a bang... Oh, and how many times did I say ‘interesting’ in this review? Very interesting. Five stars!

This book is about a mermaid named Cora. She has trouble spelling, and got an F on her report card in spelling, leading to her getting kicked off the swim team unless she starts raising her spelling grades. I love how in the book the author marked out some works because she misspelled them, which really shows that this book was in diary character even though this is fiction. Her mom had put a spell on her. The diary she gave her (she thought it would help with her spelling) was enchanted. Since she willingly put a pen to paper, she is now compelled to write in it. I think this book was funny, and I recommend it to 3rd graders. I rate this book 4/5.
