I've been a huge Star Wars nerd since I was about five years old. I was super excited in for this movie, and it didn't disappoint. I loved that the one of the protagonists is female, and how unlike Leia, who is a militant woman who didn't go out to battle, Rey is the girl who will fight for herself and be an amazing role model to all the girls out there fending for themselves. This movie certainly did not disappoint.

Leia is a great role model too! She's kind but sharp and very loving. She didn't deserve all that she went through either. (Losing her planet and her entire family?) Leia can hold her own as well and I'm pretty sure we'll see her use the Force multiple times in upcoming films.

This is awesome! I don't think it should be rated PG-13. Don't take your 7 year old to watch it. You could take your ten year old though.

No, it's rated PG-13 for a reason. Blood and intense violence, including major character death cannot be for a PG movie. Movies that deal with dark themes always have a rule that it should be PG-13 or above. The only other Star Wars film that's PG-13 is Revenge of the Sith because Anakin obviously, was being burned alive. During the Starkiller snow forest fight scene, they're both fighting to the death. The whole movie is really intense and there's lots of fighting and explosions. If you think your kid can handle it, go ahead.

ya it should be rated PG

Why? Revenge of the Sith was rated PG-13, and the Force Awakens was easily darker than that. Characters being tortured, blood, violence, flashing dark images, bodies on the ground, and major character death are all components of a PG-13 film. The director of Episode 8 has also said the next movie will be, in his words, "much darker". Force Awakens is not happy-go-lucky like A New Hope or Empire Strikes Back. The fighting is tough and brutal and I'm glad they made it PG-13.
