  In one word? AMAZING. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story DELIVERS. The cinematography is AWESOME, the action is INTENSE, the characters are heartwarming and well-done, and the new music by Michael Giacchino is CHILLING and captures the emotional and dark tone of the movie well. It is the first of the stand-alone films that doesn't focus solely on the Skywalker family and takes place immediately before Episode 4: A New Hope. In the opening crawl of A New Hope, it mentions that the Rebel Alliance has won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire and stole the Death Star plans. This movie shows the untold story of brave heroes who must band together on a daring mission to steal them and in doing so, learn to trust in each other and become part of something greater than themselves. From the opening scene, this movie was brand new in many ways (tone and feel) but still blended the Star Wars look very well. There is no opening crawl and the scenes hit the ground running, so make sure you pay attention. Rogue One is beautiful and deeply emotional and has many themes of HOPE, UNITY, BRAVERY, and COURAGE in the face of adversity. It's about ordinary people like you and me choosing to fight for what's right, and never giving up hope, no matter how dark things seem. This movie was definitely more "war-like" than the other films: the action is ON FIRE and Disney doesn't hold back from showing just how gritty and grounded this film is. They made a lot of bold moves and little kids may get scared from scenes that endanger the rebels. The last half hour captures some of the most POWERFUL and TEAR-JERKING scenes ever in a Star Wars movie, and I heard many gasps and sniffles from the audience(myself including), and many screams from one very exciting appearance from a certain villain. There are many lessons to learn, such as finding STRENGTH in each other through a strong bond of TRUST: a lesson that is needed today. Though sorrow has taken root in the galaxy, Rogue One shows that good conquers evil in the end. I have a lot of new favorite characters from this film and I daresay it is my second favorite Star Wars movie. It is a must-see for everyone: treat yourself to some of the finest storytelling in the franchise with breathtaking visuals, many cameos and easter eggs from other films, and the wonder of a galaxy far, far away.
