  In the novel, The Giver, it is very different from the movie version of The Giver. Personally, the book is much better than the movie. In the novel, it explains about how the community changed into Sameness because feelings were dangerous and a threat to others. It includes more details and really distinguishes the community for what it is and how it works. The movie version of The Giver is very vague about how the community works, what really happens, and how to community was made. In the movie, it was more revolved around Jonas and his big escape affecting others. For example, in the book, it talks about Sameness and how everyone lives the same life besides for their Assignments. Jonas when he became Receiver of Memory, he began realizing things and decided that things needed to be changed as life was better before Sameness. In the movie, Jonas told Fiona about feelings and she felt them too eventually. It showed what happened after he left the community and people began understanding where he was coming from. I would recommend the book more than the movie as the book is the original. The movie is just assumptions of what would’ve happened, it’s not the actual story. The novel is the better choice, so that everything is understood and it has a lot of suspension about what’s going to happen. It makes you think about how things could possibly change later in the future and the possibilities of how it could change.

  The movie wasn’t all that awful, but too many things were changed. They did try to keep the important parts, however the way they got there wasn’t very much to my liking. Jonas is in a sort of futuristic community, well compared to what I envisioned. Jonas gets a special assignment, and has to take on the many things that were taken away, through memory. As he does that he realizes what has been taken away, and gains back his emotions. As he does, he becomes defiant and starts to disobey the Elders, and tries to do something about the citizens’ current situation. In the movie they greatly increased Jonas’s age from 12 to 18, which also changes all the other characters’ ages, like Fiona and Asher. And since the setting was set in a futuristic time, the pills for the stirrings were changed into an injection, there were motorized bikes, and the plot slightly changed. I suppose the movie still portrays the same ideas, I just don’t like the futuristic part, and the slight romance. I would not recommend this movie to a reader of the book whom I would expect to expect more, such as I did.

  The movie is not like the book. Personally the book is better because you can get more details. Also when you read the book, you can in vision what the community would look like in your own image. The book makes you feel like you part of the story, the movie did not feel like it was real. It was good at some details of perpetrating the book and the idea, about a boy who wants a change of everything being the same, and people don’t know about the things we experience in our country, everyday. I would recommend this to anyone who likes plot twist, and when people fight for what they want. I will give this 4 stars.

  The movie was okay. It included a lot of things the book didn’t. For example, Fiona didn’t stop taking her medication and she doesn’t feel anything for Jonas (in the book). In my opinion, I liked the book better. In the book, Jonas was 12 (and clearly he was not 12 in the movie) and the book started earlier. They didn’t get Gabe until the middle of the book. In the movie, they got Gabe like the first 10 minutes into the movie. I would recommend to first read the book, then see the movie. I feel like if I would’ve seen the movie first, then read the book, I would have gotten disappointed because the book explains in more details than the movie. The movie is kind of all over the place. I would recommend this movie for a family night. I would give the movie 3 popcorns because overall, the movie was good. The book was just a little better.

  The movie “The Giver” is not like other movies. The format of the movie is very different compared to other movies. If you like futuristic style of movies then you should really consider watching “The Giver.” The movie is about a boy named Jonas living in a society where he doesn’t feel free to do what he believes in so he fights his hardest to change that. The setting is not like our world, in my opinion they live in a utopia, their society is very organized and strict, nothing like our world. Then Jonas is given an important job, which that scene is one my favorite. That scene was not expected, this movie is not very predictable, you never know what’s gonna happen next. I would recommend this movie. I would recommend it to 12+ I say that age because in my opinion younger people won’t be able to understand it since it is more futuristic. I liked it becuase of the fact that it isn’t like other movies. The format of it is very distinct and that’s what I enjoyed most , not seeing something that has already been done and repeated. I rate this movie 7/10 The Giver by Phillip Noyce. Cast: Jeff bridges, Meryl Streep, Brenton Thwaites, Odeya Rush. Length: 1h 40m. Released 2014. Ratings: 6.5/10.

  The the book The Giver and the movie are very different in many ways. The movie/ book is mostly about a community which is trying to stay away from modern society. One difference is when Jonas left the community and Asher stopped him. In the book it didn’t show that scene. Jonas was elected receiver so fast , in the book it took the time to tell the background information which is another difference. I didn’t like that he was elected so fast it didn’t show the first events which were vital in the story. The movie was good overall the music was suspenseful. There were many more differences between the book and the movie.

  The movie the Giver is a very interesting movie. The book and the movie both had similarities and differences. In my opinion, the book is better than the movie because the book explains all the details more. The Giver is about a boy named Jonas that lives in a perfect community. He got picked to be the new receiver of memory and now has learn that their is more to the world. The movie is good, however I felt that it missed a lot of the details that was in the book. It didn’t really explain the main characters or the community as it did in the book. I do recommend this movie, but I would also recommend the book. I recommend both because I would like you to see the similarities and differences of both. I give it a three out of five.

  I personally like the book better than the movie. I recommend to read the book first then watch the movie. The movie didn’t catch my attention because some parts were in out of order which were confusing. The movie put the most interesting parts in the beginning. In the beginning the movie it was going fast that I couldn’t understand. In the book it explained more about why are memories being erased and why they are dangerous the community.

  The Giver fills you in with excitement, drama, and suspense that never ends and you want to see another different ending or scene that could have change the whole scenarios and that you wanted. The Giver is a movie about Jonas getting picked to be the next receiver until he starts his task he started to see everything differently.The movie gives a lot of details of how their community looks and works, and we get to see their normal rounties in their everyday life. The special effects were giving a good setting also when I got to see finally that they work in a futuristic place. Even though I don't like drama movies I really liked how this movie went on how this boy named Jonas is confused about his community and is rebelling to turn it back the way it was.I really liked the Giver and, yes I do recommend it to kids and adults. This movie really gives good details in settings and special effects but the message that the movie is giving is very good.I give this movie a 10/10 very good movie if you read the book I think the movie was better since I get to see how the community and characters looked like.
